Injection Sclerotherapy
This injection sclerotherapy is widely used for cosmetic surgery in hiding varicose veins. For hemroids it is mainly used for small size hemroids and usually internal hemroids. It also proves to be popular for the elderly population, who are at an age that are rather fragile and could not take a surgical operation well. This type of surgery may be done in a doctor's rooms. Various chemicals can be used for this injection, but phenol seems to be the more prevalent choice. It is one of the more older methods on the market used to remove hemroids. The Procedure What happens is that the surgeon or doctor injects the chemical into the vein at the base of the hemroid. This contracts the vein causing the blood to clogg up, this stops the blood from flowing to the hemroids. Several days later the hemroid then dies and falls off. A scar then replaces the hemroid. The Concerns The possible side effects with sclerotherapy are the following, the bleeding does not stop, an allergic reaction to the chemical can occur, the anal area can become infected as well as the prostate gland and a very painful burning can be felt. But most importantly if the doctor touches a nerve with the needle you may suffer from incontinence of the bowels or bladder or both. Not forgetting the fact, that it is very well documented that the hemroids tend to return and a repeat procedure needs to be done.
